I typically try to avoid stuff like that as, personally, it doesn't really thrill me to intentionally seek it out. That said, if I happen to nab a Psychic monster that I like and they just happen to mow through the rest of the game like dry, brittle grass, I'm not gonna complain.
One of my favorite things about old games is when they're a little janky, so you can find strategies that are objectively overpowered (e.g. Psychic).
